I am hungry - Part 1

In this series, we'll try to present you with the places in our surroundings that we personally like.

For us, it needs to be cosy, not to far away, offering local cuisine and good value for money.

In our texts you will not come across a paid add. We write about the things we personally enjoy and want to share.

We decided to start with Gostiona Prstenac, in Barban, just four kilometers from Draguzeti.

This is the location on Google maps. It is open every day from 8am till midnight. This is the place where the locals like to go, which is usually a reliable sign of quality.

It offers plenty of local specialties, from Istrian cheese and prosciuto, to a variety of home made pasta, served with truffles, or domestic hen, to a local goulash soup "maneštra", to an assortment of fresh fish and calamari.

They don't advertise at all. They really don't need to. Great quality food, affordable prices, domestic setup, and a warm welcome are more than enough.

I still remember my first time there. After a rough day, spent in discussion with construction workers, we went there for a late lunch, Three of us entered, feeling quite exhausted.

A waitress gave us a warm welcome and some white wine (Istria is famous for Malvazija). Three big servings of calamari with mangel, fries and tartar sauce were on our table in no time, and soon everything seemed a lot brighter!

Because of that feeling of being at home, Gostiona Prstenac is my favourite pick in the closer vicinity of Draguzet.

If you ever visit them, please leave us a note. We would love to hear your impressions!
